Furi o suru

           

            “Rin-chan, how’s it going with Ninomiya-kun these days?” Dita asked Rin over coffee one afternoon in the company cafe while taking a break from work.

            “Good but we didn’t get to see each other lately while he’s working with their upcoming new album.” Rin took a sip of her orange juice.

            “Ah, talking about their album, you know the girl in their video? There’s a rumor going about her and Ninomiya-kun.” Dita continued.

            “Oh, you mean their pair-up?”

            “Sou. Aren’t you bothered by it?”

            “Iya, betsuni.(nothing really) I was sort of expecting that. It’s been smooth sailing so far between Nino and me. I was wondering when it’ll happen to us. Especially, since you’re the only one who knows about our relationship at the moment. You know how it’s like in love stories when the lovers confessed their feelings and they’re all happy for a while then suddenly a problem always arises which tears them apart, those kind of stuff. And it is just a rumor. I have to get used to dealing with those things since he’s in this industry and all anyway.”

            “You think so?”

            “Maa ne...maybe.” She laughed.

            “Anshin shite.(don't worry) I will continue to support the both of you.”

            “Arigatou.”

            “Rin!” Jin suddenly appeared out of nowhere beside her.

            “Mikurishita!(you surprised me) Where did you come from?” Rin exclaimed.

            “I need a favor.” He said in a low voice. Dita moved closer.

            “Nani? Nani ga atta no?(what happened)” Rin asked concerned.

            “Will you pretend to be my girlfriend for a while?” Jin replied.

            “Eh?! Nande?(why)” the two girls said together.

            “Ssshhh… You see, there’s this girl who keeps following me. She’s also a trainee.” He explained.

            “Ooh, you got yourself a stalker huh. Let me guess, not your type at all?” Dita chimed in.

            “Urusai.(you're annoying)” He snapped at her. “Anyway, She’s way too young for me. I need her to get over her obsession with me.”

            “Did you give her a wrong impression or maybe you led her on or something which made her fall madly for you?” Rin kidded.

            “I don’t know, maybe. You know I’m always friendly with everyone—“

            “Yeah, especially girls.” Dita interrupted.

            “Damatte.(shut up)” He continued, “At first she was normal, then she got overly friendly and before I knew it she’s in everywhere I go! It’s creepy.”

            “Did you try confronting her? Telling her off straight out?” Rin asked.

            “Yup, she just stared dreamily at me. I’m at my wits end here.”

            “Have you tried doing stuff that puts her off?” Dita suggested..

            “Done that, no effect. She says she likes me more with my “shortcomings”. Jin quoted.

            “Wow, a certified stalker she is.” Dita commented.

            “Are you sure pretending to be your girlfriend would work?” Rin asked.

            “It’s my last resort. If she finds out I already have someone special, she has to give up on me.”

            “And I have to be the one?” Rin asked.

            “Yeah, everyone knows we’ve known each other for a long time so she wouldn’t suspect. Tasukete kudasai.” Jin begged.

            “Rin, what about Ni—“ Dita started but Rin covered her mouth.

            “Alright, I’ll play along but only for a while. If it still does not work you have to report her to the managers.” Rin agreed.

            “Hontou? Good, because here she comes.” Jin said looking to the direction of a young girl who was looking around until she spotted Jin and went on his direction waving her hand.

            “She’s cute but definitely young. What’s up with kids these days?” Dita remarked. Jin shushed her and motioned for Rin to stand with him.

            “Aka-chan! I was looking for you!” the girl said as she got to their table. Dita and Rin coughed up their laughter upon hearing “Aka-chan”(also eans 'baby'). Jin’s face flushed red with embarrassment.

            “I told you not to call me that way.” Jin said.

            “Why not? It’s cute.” The girl replied blinking her eyes.

            “Anyway, can you please not disturb me when I’m having a date with my girlfriend.” Jin said.

            “Date? Girlfriend? Dare?” the girl asked, wide-eyed glancing from Dita to Rin.

            “Meet Shiyama Rin, my girlfriend.” Jin introduced putting his hand over Rin’s shoulder. “Now, if you’ll excuse us. We’ll go someplace where no one will disturb us.” He continued pulling Rin out towards the door.

            Dita gasped upon seeing who was standing dumbfounded near the door.

Rin looked as shocked when she saw Nino. Jin bowed as they passed him.

            “I…uh…later…” was all Rin could utter and looked pleadingly at Dita. “I said, I expected something to happen but this is just too troublesome.” She told herself.
