Dare desu ka?(who are you?)
She finally decided to see him and congratulate him. They hadn’t seen each other for a while since he was offered a role in a movie. She was finally able to make her decision from the last time they parted. She decided to tell him after the premiere of the movie but she was told that he already left along with the other cast for an after party. So she decided to look for but when she found him he seemed to be having fun and didn’t want to disturb him. She felt a pang of jealousy when she saw his partner in the movie talking to him but she brushed it off.
It was around midnight when she received a call from Dita which almost made her drop her phone.
“Rin? Nino was taken in the hospital! He heard you were at the party. He seemed to be on the way to your place when the car---“she blindly dashed out into the empty street.
She was led to the intensive care unit by a nurse. Her heart tore when she saw his motionless body with all the bandages and machines around him.
“Nino! Gomen nasai…Open your eyes…Onegai...(please)” she sobbed as she ran to his side holding his hand. He remained still.
It was early in the morning she was still sleeping, crouching on the bedside chair, when she felt his hand move in her grasp. She stirred and sat up, now wide awake, looking from his hand to his face. He moved his head to one side and slowly opened his eyes meeting hers. Finally waking up after almost a week.
“Nino…you’re finally awake! Yokatta…(i'm so glad)” she gasped and caressed his face. She stood up to call the doctor but he held her hand tightly stopping her. She looked back at him.
“Who are you?” he asked weakly. She was stunned.
“Don’t you remember who I am?... I’m Rin.” She answered, her panic starting. He shook his head.
“Do you remember who you are?” she tried again. He nodded. Tears welled up and flowed freely on her face. He just stared at her, confused.
“He seems to have selective amnesia.” The doctor later explained. “He remembers most of his past except those that are related to you. He must have extreme emotions toward you when the accident happened.” He continued. “But don’t worry, usually it is only temporary and will return in due time especially when he is exposed to familiar environment. Let’s just observe him for now.”
“Thank you, Doctor.” Dita replied as Rin sat silently beside her, lost in her own thoughts.
“Can’t believe this is happening. Don’t these scenarios only belong in dramas?” Rin thought.
