First  Shot

“Yatta!” We all shouted as our graduation ceremony finally ended.  After four long treacherous years, we all made it. I’m Rui, by the way, and by “we”, I meant my friends Misaki, Byul and Chie.

Just like every fresh graduate, we’re all hyped up for the much awaited graduation trip, destination- Japan.

We’ve planned this trip ever since we’ve made sure we’re graduating. Why Japan? It has something to do with how we’ve become friends in the first place.  It started with being anime fanatics, and then we got hooked by their songs and their culture. Same goes for Korean drama series and their soundtracks.

Well, back to the trip.  We’ve prepared for this trip weeks ago. We finally convinced our parents, got our passports made, packed, and now we’re in my room, having one of our sleepovers, getting ready for our trip tomorrow.

“Alright, got everything ready?” Misaki asked everyone as we ran through our checklist once again.

“Hai!(yes)” we replied, barely able to contain our excitement. It was already eight in the evening. The small room was packed with bags and other stuffs we’ve prepared for our trip and for this sleepover.

“Ei, I read this from somewhere, that if you write all your “signs” of knowing your soulmate in a piece of paper and putting it in some old box, it just might come true.” I suggested.

“Er, signs? What do you mean exactly?” Misaki asked.

“I think I’ve heard of that.” Byul said.

“Signs, such as, the character or traits you want your prince to have, his height, talents, what he’ll do or give you, where or how you’ll meet, and etc. stuff like that so you’ll know that he’s really THE one.” Byul continued.

“Oh...” Misaki said and Chie nodded.

“Another question,” Chie said as she raised her right hand, “do we have an old box for us to put in?” she asked.

I showed them a small wooden box. It had a small padlock in it. It was decorated with patterns of different flowers that looked like it’s been faded through time. It also has a bronze metal at the opening where you could put a small padlock.

“I found it a week ago while cleaning through our old stuffs.” I explained, “My mom said, she used this for keeping some memorabilia from her grandmother. She also said I could have it now.” I continued.

“Wow, this is perfect!” Byul exclaimed as she examined it. Their eyes glistened as they passed it around, examining it.

“Well, shall we get started on that list then?” Misaki said. I passed around some stationeries and pens. When they’ve selected one and found their own comfortable place to write to, it got quieter as we started to write.

I managed to write ten signs. Afterwards, we carefully placed it in the box with silent prayers and hopes of it coming true. Before we locked it up, we took a picture of us with it. Then we spent the rest of that night talking about what we’ll be doing when we arrived in Japan.

A/n: I took that picture, but sadly the DSLR isn't mine, haha how I wish....
